Pharmacy Technician – Benefits Coordinator

 

Benefits Coordinator is responsible for partnering with physician offices while working under the direction of a department lead/supervisor/manager. He/she will be responsible for coordinating care, communication, and processes between various stakeholders such as pharmacies, patients, prescribers, payors and other third parties.

 

Reporting Relationships

This position reports to the Hub Manager. This position also reports to the Team Lead.

Essential Functions

  • Assists physician offices and pharmacies with the daily operations of the specialty care programs.
  • Answers incoming calls to the specialty team and handles calls with pleasant and friendly demeanor. Handles or triages the call appropriately. Manages and handles all incoming Benefit Investigation related faxes, appropriately and efficiently.
  • Communicates on behalf of the prescribers and pharmacies relating to any specialty program needs via telephone, fax, etc.
  • Effectively communicates KloudScript’s specialty program to the appropriate parties.
  • Manages communication with prescribers and payors to resolve issues and to provide updates of patients and prescription status.
  • Completes benefits investigations for specialty patients and resolves any payor rejections, such as high dollar review, prior authorization coordination, and appeals.
  • Enrolls and coordinates patient financial assistance and support services, copay cards, funding assistance and manufacturer support programs.
  • Completes prior authorization (PA) and physician assistance program (PAP) applications.
  • Maintains compliance with company policies and procedures, and complies with all laws regulating pharmacy services.
  • Maintains all PHI according to HIPAA rules.
  • Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
  • Partners with Level III Patient Care Coordinator in communicating with the central team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the department lead/supervisor/manager.

Qualifications

  • Education: Licensed and/or Certified Pharmacy Technician in the state of Illinois.
  • Familiarity with dispensing system a plus.
  • Must have an expert level proficiency with MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, internet, web-based applications, and other office equipment. We are a technology company looking for tech savvy work force.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task on a daily basis.
